Hello, and WELCOME!! This is my first blog post (woohoo!!). You can learn a little bit more about me on the ”Meet Ashli” page, but I just wanted to briefly introduce myself and show you a little of what’s to come:)
I’m Ashli, and I have a passion for DIY projects! In 2020 I was in my third year of battling with infertility, and I was desperate for a distraction. I was working as my husbands assistant at the time and I just needed something of my own. SO… I started cosmetology school. (haha, bet you thought this is where the DIY projects started… NOPE!) Without getting too deep into my fertility story (maybe later…) I was nearing the end of my hair school journey and I was realizing that I hated doing hair! (…yeah I know… good thing I invested a bunch of time and money in school right?) Safe to say, I was at an extreme low. I am extremely skilled at hiding the struggles I’m going through, so even though I was fortunate enough to have friends at school, and family that was supportive… I don’t think many actually knew what was going on with me. Well…
THIS is where my DIY projects started (FINALLY)! I was living in the basement of my parents house and it was dark… and gloomy… and it wasn’t helping with my mood struggles. LET ME TELL YOU… It was EXACTLY what I needed!!!
I started with the countertops… (I’ll link all of the posts when they’re ready)
…I learned a lot! There’s some things that worked really well, and some things I would do differently!
You won’t believe the storage situation we had before these shelves! And the paint… oh man what a difference! The space was no longer a dark and gloomy hole where we happened to spend our time… It was turning into a home!
This is where it really started coming together! And also where I made the biggest mistake…
I added some shelving across the main living area for balance …
… and in the bathroom to tie the house together
This obviously meant that the next project would be … THE NURSERY…
Now, our baby boy is here (Maverick Woods) and we just closed on a home for ourselves!! I have a project planned for EVERY SINGLE ROOM in the new house so make sure to follow along to see the transformation!
